Two-Step Quit Plan

Zeno

If you follow this simple two-step quit plan, you will never smoke again.

(First, you have to recognize that when you stop smoking, you will have craves. The good news is, craves very rarely last longer than 20 minutes 1 — in fact, in my experience, and in the experience of hundreds of other quitters I’ve known over the past 20 years — craves rarely last longer than 5 minutes. But better safe than sorry.)

Step One: Whenever you have a craving for a cigarette, commit to waiting at least 20 minutes before you light one up.

Step Two: If the craving lasts more than 20 minutes, see Step One.
